ESTEVAN - A driver is facing a hefty fine after a traffic stop was conducted on the Highway 39 truck bypass on July 8.
According to the Estevan Police Service, a vehicle was observed to be travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and a $680 ticket was issued to the motorist for going 147 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone.
That same day, EPS members mediated a domestic disturbance related to child custody matters. No criminal offences were identified during the occurrence and all parties were spoken to.
On July 9, police received a report of an attempted fraud at a local business. The matter remains under investigation.
Officers received a complaint of an attempted theft of a cart from a downtown charitable organization. The individual was followed by an employee and left the cart behind when fleeing on foot. The cart was recovered and a description of the suspect was provided to police. The matter remains under investigation.
Police responded to a report of a male causing a disturbance at a residence in central Estevan. The individual was arrested accordingly and lodged in cells until sober.
The EPS received a complaint of an individual uttering threats to harm the victims’ family. Through the investigation, it was determined that the suspect was at a location in Regina. The Regina Police Service assisted in arresting the male and he was subsequently charged and released to speak to the matter in provincial court at a later date.
The EPS attended to a domestic disturbance in central Estevan on July 10. The matter was meditated and one of the parties left the scene to ensure no further issues occurred.
A possible online investment fraud is being investigated by the EPS after an individual made several large money transfers and was subsequently unable to contact the online business. The matter remains under investigation.
The EPS is investigating a reported theft of recycling from a residential property in southeast Estevan. The matter remains under investigation.
EPS members of the Combined Traffic Services of Saskatchewan conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 47 north of Estevan, which resulted in the male driver failing a mandatory alcohol screening test and subsequently providing breath samples with a result of .07. The driver was issued a 60-day driver's licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for three days.
