ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service handled 39 calls for service during the weekend, and made a number of arrests on Sunday.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. Sunday, a 33-year-old Weyburn man was arrested and charged for impaired driving. He was released for Estevan Provincial Court at a later date.
Following a recent investigation, a 30-year-old Estevan woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. She will appear in provincial court at a later date.
A 22-year-old Estevan man was arrested and released on outstanding warrants. He will appear in court in the future.
Police received three separate reports of a 52-year-old Estevan woman causing disturbances in areas around the city. Police attended each location and spoke with the woman, who eventually returned home. No criminal charges were laid regarding the disturbances.
Members received a report of a vehicle damaging a railway stop arm on 13th Avenue and leaving the scene. Police identified the motorist and charged him under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to report damage to a property owner.
The EPS attended to a complaint of a male causing a disturbance at a residence in south Estevan. The individual left the scene prior to police arrival, but a statement was obtained from the homeowner and the matter is under investigation.
Police received a complaint about a disturbance occurring in a north-end apartment building. One of the occupants was banging on the walls and yelling at a neighbour. Police attended and spoke to the individual responsible and warned him under the noise bylaw.
Members received a report Saturday of criminal harassment and bullying. The matter is still under investigation.
Officers received a request for assistance in getting a child from one parent to the other. The court had not given direction in the order for the police to ensure the parties were compliant. They were advised to return to court to sort out the matter.
Police received a report of theft of a bicycle. The matter is still under investigation.
Also under investigation is a report of an individual not abiding by their release conditions.
Police received a report of a loud party in the Westview area. Members attended and warned the property owner.
The EPS received a report Friday of a collision in which a cyclist was struck by a vehicle. Members investigated and identified the vehicle and driver involved, but have not been able to locate the cyclist as he rode away. It was determined through investigation that it wasn’t a collision but the cyclist fell off of his bike. Police would still like to speak to cyclist and ask that he call the EPS.
Members received a report of mischief to a business on Fourth Street. The matter is under investigation.
Police received a report of money being stolen from the complainant's account. The victim was contacted and downloaded an app to his phone that gave the thief access to his bank accounts. The matter is still under investigation. Police remind the public to exercise caution when giving individuals access to electronic devices.
Members received a report of a motor vehicle cutting off a group of cyclists. Police spoke with the vehicle operator. Officers remind the public that cyclists have access to the streets and that they are to follow traffic laws as would motor vehicle operators. Motor vehicles are required to yield to cyclists as they would other vehicles on the street.
