Volunteers of Assiniboia and district were in the spotlight for a volunteer appreciation event on April 27 at the Prince of Wales auditorium in Assiniboia.

The Assiniboia and District Music Festival turned 85 this year and celebrated fantastic musical performances as well as deserving music scholarship over two days of competition at the Assiniboia Alliance Church in Assiniboia on April 23-24.

Rockglen dinner theatre filled the Rockglen high school with fine dining and laughter on April 1. The Rockglen community council board organized the dinner and the Rockglen community theatre presented the play 鈥淣ana鈥檚 Naughty Knickers鈥�.

As producers in Assiniboia and surrounding areas prepare to plant crops this year, they need to be aware of spreading pests and invasive weeds. Leafy spurge is marching across Canada and it鈥檚 getting closer and closer to the Assiniboia area.

Assiniboia Composite High School鈥檚 boys curling team was honoured with the 2017 SHSAA/MILK Sportsmanship Award on April 13.

A workshop on child sexual abuse raised awareness in the community of Assiniboia and area. Messiah Lutheran Church brought the Little Warriors 鈥淧revent It!鈥� workshop to a full hall in Assiniboia on April 8.
