This week Canadians have been given a taste of food politics after Ottawa announced that it is unveiling the new Canada Food Guide next year.

The Saskatchewan High School Rodeo season kicked off at the rodeo grounds at Wood Mountain Regional Park on August 19-20.

The Town of Rockglen celebrated Canada150 on August 12-13 with two days filled with activities to suit every age and interest group.

The Friends of the St. Victor Petroglyphs held a grand opening of a Red River cart display at the St. Victor Petroglyphs Interpretive Centre in St. Victor on August 26. The day included an opening of the display and a dedication ceremony.

During this last week in August four students from Assiniboia Composite High School, Cassie Kuffner, Adison Lidberg, Brenna Luke and Brooke Schollar, have set off to four different countries to participate in the Rotary鈥檚 youth exchange program.

Ninety-year old Nellie Schafer was accepting handshakes and well-wishes like a rock star on August 13. Sitting on the deck of the Rockglen Tourism Centre, she enjoyed the local Canada150 celebrations and accepted the well wishes.

The annual FarmFest/Terre Ferme wrapped up another successful year at the Campagne farm near Willow Bunch on July 28-30. FarmFest is a Fransaskois music festival that is run and organized by the Campagne family on the family farm.

Submitted by S.Falconer The Wood Mountain Lakota First Nation were proud to host their powwow on July 16 in the afternoon. Three drum groups from Moose Jaw and north of Moose Jaw were performing. There were 38 dancers from several areas.

The 麻豆传媒AVland Co-op celebrated Canada150 by sponsoring free outdoor movies to its branch communities in Coronach on August 8 and Thomson Lake on August 9 and Assiniboia on August 10.

Harvest in Saskatchewan us already underway. Producers in the province have two per cent of the crop combined and three per cent swathed or ready to straight-cut, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture for the week ending August 7.
