U13, U15 and U18 teams continue provincial hockey journeys

Unity, Kerrobert / Luseland and Macklin minor hockey teams still alive in provincial victories.

Playing in U13 D provincials, the Kerrobert/Luseland Tigers are keeping their fans on the edge of their seats. After taking round one to three games and winning the series on the road, they were up against the Edam 3 Stars in the second round.

The U13 Tigers lost the first game, in Edam, by a score of 8-6, Feb. 9. In front of their hometown fans Feb. 11, they pulled off a 7-6 win in the second game, once again taking them to a mini-game tiebreaker, which they won 1-0.

Next up for the U13 Tigers will be a third round match-up against either the Dodsland Stars or the Langham Vikings.

The U13 Lazers won their first game of the second round in the C category, in hostile territory, beating the Rosetown Redwings 6-2 in Rosetown, Feb. 10. The game was their third win in provincials in as many starts. The next game of the second round was at home in Unity, Feb. 14, but results were unavailable for press deadlines.

In U15 B competition the Lazers’s first game against the La Ronge Ice Wolves Feb. 3 ended in a tie. Heading north for game two Feb. 10, the Lazers came from behind to win the game, and the series, 8-6.

The U15 Lazers will take on the Kindersley Klippers in the next round, with game dates yet to be determined by press deadlines.

The U18 Macklin Mohawks started their provincials on the road, playing the Maidstone Jets in Maidstone and coming away with a 12-2 win. Game two was in Macklin Feb. 13 but results were unavailable in time for press deadlines.

The U18 and the U15 Kerrobert Tigers both advanced directly to their provincial quarter-finals, and will play their first games Feb. 25, U18 hosting Lanigan and U15 playing in Lashburn.
