KERROBERT – The minor hockey season has started in Kerrobert and things are looking up.
Registration numbers are close to last year’s says Kerrobert Minor Hockey Association president, Jerry Shepherd.
Kerrobert was able to secure enough players to ice an U7 team this year. Players from Luseland and Kerrobert are forming teams in the U11 and U13 age groups. The U15 and U18 teams are a combination of Kerrobert, Denzil and Luseland players to round out the Highway 14 Hockey League.
Shepherd also said a power skating program, an annual event, ran the first week of October. There is also a referee clinic happening Nov. 26.
Fundraising has also started for the league. During the Harvest Festival, the KMHA hosted a pulled pork supper, a fundraising hockey draft has started up through office pools and a Halloween dance was held.
Shepherd said the KMHA decided to do micro fundraising instead of one big fundraiser this year.
“For anything we need to purchase for our fundraisers, we are making it a priority to shop locally first,” he adds.
Spectators may have noticed the U18 KDL team is sporting a new look this season as well. The three organizations agreed to use the former West Central Rage logo and colours for the jerseys.
