DENZIL – The Denzil Hall was packed to capacity and full of laughter on Nov. 25 with entertainer Quick Dick McDick on stage. The Denzil Curling Club and Denzil Recreation Board worked together to bring the comedian to the small village, in hopes to raise funds to replace three heaters in the curling rink plus other upgrades.
Two hundred supper tickets were sold out within a few days of being on sale with an additional 100 show tickets being sold afterwards to fill the hall. Denzil Recreatin Board member Flo Frenette said in a phone interview that everybody she has talked to really enjoyed themselves.
“Quick Dick McDick is very relatable, very Saskatchewan,” adds Frenette. “We are already planning more events like this and hoping to bring him back.”
The two organizations also auctioned off Denzil Recreation Board mugs, had a 50/50 draw and held an ugly sweater contest, where the winner took home a one-of-a-kind board made by Greg Rissling of Unique Ideas in Oak.
“The two-hour show kept us all laughing and I have not heard of any complaints from the evening,” said Frenette.
