Battle Inn the Fords

The second Annual Battle Inn The Fords turned out great, with five local bands rocking out to three judges and a loud crowd of supporters. The bands that participated were Keara Monument, Palm Tree Pilots, Chevrotains, Six Blocks, and Mister Fire.

African Canadians from the area honour in Battleford

The ceremony may have been short and sweet Saturday, but to those honoured it was a meaningful and appreciated ceremony held at the Battleford Legion Hall.

Motor vehicle accident at Highway 4 North

A motor vehicle accident on the weekend has sent two people to hospital with undetermined injuries. The incident happened Saturday at 9:24 am at Highway 4 North, north of the Lessard Road intersection.

Young offender released on bail

A young offender has been released on bail to his mother for $200, pending his hearing Sept. 16. The 15-year-old boy, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces charges in relation to three break and enters and thefts.

ATV fatality

Pierceland RCMP are currently investigating an ATV fatality which occurred Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m. in a wooded pasture near the community of Pierceland. The operator of the ATV was in a remote area when he lost control and was thrown from the ATV.

Free fare for foundation

A local taxi company is giving back to the community, one fare at a time. Between noon and 4 p.m. Aug. 11, anyone who took a Crown Cab received free fare if they made a donation to the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation.
