Brandon Bear found not guilty in P.A. court

Still faces attempted murder charges in another incident where a man was shot multiple times at different locations on Muskoday First Nation over the course of several hours

Brandon Bear was found not guilty in Prince Albert Provincial Court Wednesday.

PRINCE ALBERT – Following a trial in Prince Albert court, 25-year-old Brandon Scott Bear was found not guilty Wednesday of assault causing bodily harm, theft, and break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Bear still faces attempted murder charges in another incident where a man was shot multiple times at different locations on Muskoday First Nation over the course of several hours on Dec. 4. RCMP say the victim was eventually able to escape from a home where he was being held and sought help from a stranger who drove him to a safe location and called police. Police say the victim was in critical condition.

In that incident, Prince Albert RCMP charged Brandon Bear and 45-year-old Patrick James Bear. They were charged with attempted murder with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, forcible confinement with a firearm, unlawfully causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm dangerous to the public, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of a crime, and failing to comply with a probation order. Brandon Bear was additionally charged with possession of a firearm contrary to an order and failing to comply with a probation order.

A trial for both Brandon Bear and Patrick Bear on those charges is set for Nov. 4 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Brandon Bear also faces a weapons charge and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. Those charges are set to be dealt with at the November trial.
