Two men accused of confining and shooting man multiple times appear in P.A. court

Patrick Bear and Brandon Bear are charged with shooting a man multiple times at different locations over several hours

PRINCE ALBERT – Two men charged with attempted murder had appearances in Prince Albert Provincial Court and are seeking bail.

On Jan. 19, 24-year-old Brandon Bear’s matter was adjourned to Feb. 15. On Jan. 18 44-year-old Patrick Bear’s matter was adjourned to Jan. 26.

The two are accused of shooting a man multiple times at different locations on Muskoday First Nation over the course of several hours on Dec. 4.

RCMP say the victim was eventually able to escape from a residence where he was being held. He sought help from a member of the public, who drove him to a safe location and called emergency services. He was in critical condition.

On Dec. 5 police located three suspects at a home on Muskoday First Nation. The Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Response Team went to the residence and gained entry. Three men were arrested without incident and the residence was turned over to Prince Albert RCMP to execute a search warrant.

Brandon Bear and Patrick Bear were charged with attempted murder with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, forcible confinement with a firearm, unlawfully causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm dangerous to the public, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of a crime, and failing to comply with a probation order. Brandon Bear was additionally charged with possession of a firearm contrary to an order and failing to comply with a probation order.

The third man was released without charges.

Prince Albert RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, and the RCMP General Investigation and Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate. They are trying to locate two stolen vehicles in relation to this investigation including a grey Dodge Ram 3500 with Saskatchewan plate 835 HVC, and a black Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi with Saskatchewan plate 848 KXE.
