The award winners in the poetry, poster and essay contest, sponsored by the Neilburg/Marsden branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, were announced Nov. 11 at the ceremonies held in the Neilburg Community Hall.

Senior boys' volleyball team undefeated and advance to provincials

The Borden senior boys' volleyball team won the regional play downs at Medstead, Nov. 19, going through undefeated. They now advance to provincials in Broadview this weekend, along with Glaslyn who were second in the region.

The Community Youth Choir entertained a full house Sunday at its first concert of the season. As the choir grows, so does its audience numbers.

Pancakes served for fundraiser

Last week at MHS was a good one. We would like to welcome back our librarian, Mrs. Bailey. Wednesday, we held a pancake breakfast for students and staff to raise money to buy KitchenAid stand mixers for the home economics room.

Handi van bingo draws a full house

Here we are on Thursday night at 8 p.m. the temperature is -12 C with high winds and the power is out. I sure hope this isn't a sign of what is to come during the winter months. Nov. 11, the Handi van committee held their second bingo of the season.

Village rink fundraisers planned

Work continues on the village rink. Plans are being made for fundraisers to be held in the months to come. These include bake sales and bingos. Watch for dates.

28th great-grandchild arrives in the family

Nov. 9 - Milt and Lil McMillan are pleased to announce their 28th great-grandchild: Koen James Rhinehart, a brother for Tanner and a son for Maggie and Shawn Rhinehart. We were glad to have Theresa Kenney home from the hospital Nov. 7.

Christmas supper planned at November meeting

The monthly meeting was held Nov. 4 with Margaret MacEachern in the chair. Bids were turned in by Dorothy Schwartz for the Christmas supper on Dec. 11. The Catholic Ladies Altar Society will be doing the catering.

Remembrance Day was marked in Unity with services at all three schools as well as the public service Nov. 11 at St. Peter's Church.
