Games day fun at Friendship Korner

The Neilburg seniors held their monthly games day Nov. 7 at the Friendship Korner. Shuffleboard winners on the A side were Rose Leitheiser and Vonnie Rutherford. Runners-up were Lois Cammidge and Irene Ducherer.

Winter gradually introduced

Mother Nature has kindly been bringing winter to us gradually. We have now had about four snowfalls. The first melted and the second almost disappeared. Saturday night brought us a heavy fall of snow and it appears to be staying.

Our community remembers those who fought for the freedom that we all enjoy today. The H. Hardcastle school students along with members of the community remembered Nov. 9. Their service started at 2 p.m.

The November meeting of the River's Edge Quilters was held Nov. 4 in the craft room at the Don Ross Centre. President Irene Greer called the meting to order with 23 members in attendance.

It has been a great week at Maidstone High School. We finished our magazine campaign and ended up with a grand total of 537 sales. We also raised $2,301.51 at our Terry Fox Day, and will be donating this money to cancer research.

Firefly has Celtic roots

Local musicians Lana Quinn and Byron Olsen are set to release their new CD, Firefly. Quinn's soprano voice and 36 string harp have been featured at many local events and concerts over the years. She has recorded two CDs of original songs.
