Bjorkdale News: Bjorkdale gymnast competes at Saskatoon meet

The Bjorkdale School senior boys curling team went to the NESSACs, the Bjorkdale skating rink will be hosting a skate with the Trojans day and the Bjorkdale Curling rink had a busy weekend with 10 teams in their Annual Bonspiel.

Ellie Tsapraili of Bjorkdale has her first gymnastic competition at the Marian Gymnastics club in Saskatoon and got eighth overall.

BJORKDALE — Local Bjorkdale student Ellie Tsaprailis competed in her first gymnastic competition at the Marian Gymnastics club in Saskatoon on the Feb. 10 weekend.

She is in level 3 and did very well in the competition. She ribboned in three of the fiveevents. She was eighth on beam, eighth in vault, and eigth overall. There were five clubs there from around the province. With over 40 competitors total that were divided in to two age groups. Coach Jody Campbell said she was proud of all the Tisdale Twister athletes who attended the competition.

The Bjorkdale School senior boys curling team went to the NESSACs in Melfort on Feb. 12. The team included Garrett Babcock as skip, Nathan Horn as third, Talon Kipling as second and Grayson Vecchio as lead. They will play four games.

The Bjorkdale skating rink will be hosting a skate with the Trojans day on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Kids will be able to practice and have a mini scrimmage with all the players.

The Bjorkdale Curling rink had a busy weekend with 10 teams in their Annual Bonspiel. A roast beef supper was held on Feb. 10 and winning rink in the A-final was: Nicole Goldsworthy, Sheila Lupien, Jill Szeliga and Colleen Currey. They played against the Marty Horn rink which included Paul Horn, Adam Babcock and Shamus Bintner. Thank you to all the volunteers who keep this club going and helping with cleaning the ice and making supper. There will be one final bonspiel on Saturday, March 9. This will be a fun family bonspiel. Contact Marty Horn or Michelle Hamel to enter a team.
