BJORKDALE — Local Bjorkdale athletes Jordice Selensky, Ellie Tsaprailis and Brynn Goldsworthy competed in the Tisdale Twisters Gymnastics Mock meet in Tisdale.

The Jan. 27 meet helped the athletes prepare for competition season and know what to expect when they head to their competition meets. All the athletes showed off their skills.

The Bjorkdale Curling Rink held their annual ladies bonspiel on Feb. 2 and 3. There were seven teams entered and had a weekend of great curling. The winners of the A event were: Nicole Goldsworthy, Sheila Lupien, Jill Szeliga and Colleen Currey. The curling rink put on a great ham supper for all the curlers. The Annual Bonspiel is up next on Feb. 9 and 10. If you’re interested in entering a team, contact Marty Horn or Michelle Hamel.

The Bjorkdale School has started a basketball program for kids in Grade 3-6. They play games against Arborfield and Zenon Park. They played against Arborfield on Monday, Jan. 29. There are 18 kids participating in the basketball program.

The Bjorkdale Skating Rink has unfortunately had to close its doors until further notice. The natural ice and the consistently warm temperatures and not having it freeze at night has forced the skating rink board to close. With cooler temperatures this week, the skating rink board hopes to open on the weekend. This will be posted on the Village of Bjorkdale Facebook page.
