WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service received 79 calls for service during the week of October 30th, through November 5th, resulting in a total of eight charges. During the week, six charges were issued under the Traffic Safety Act (TSA) and two charges were laid under the Criminal Code of Canada in relation to individuals who either failed to attend court as required or failed to comply with a condition of their release.
Members of the Weyburn Police Service attended, at the request of Estevan Police Service, to Estevan early the morning of November 1st, and assisted them with an officer involved shooting and a death investigation prior to the shooting.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved as well as family members of the injured officer and deceased persons,” said Police Chief Jamie Blunden.
Other calls for service regarding alarm calls, frauds, thefts, welfare checks, damage to property, and instances of persons disturbing the peace.
