The Preeceville Peewee Pats were crowned the Major Hockey League champions when they won the A banner on March 17. The A-banner game was played against Canora with Preeceville defeating Canora in both games played.

The Preeceville Midget Pats hockey team faced a third game against Esterhazy that decided the B side champions of the Major Hockey league. The final and deciding game was hosted in Preeceville in front of a packed arena on March 20.

Seniors in the Sturgis area rocked the community with a fun rock-a-thon fundraiser hosted at the Sturgis READ Club on March 16. The eight main participants were all over the age of 90 years.

The Whitehawk Arts Council recently announced who the performers will be for the Stars for Saskatchewan 2016-2017 season. The first scheduled performance will be Lisa Brokop on October 27 at the Preeceville Community Hall.

Easter 鈥渂abas鈥� and 鈥減askas鈥� are traditional breads that are served on the table at Easter time in many households.

Dancers from the Studio Dance One club in Preeceville brought home numerous gold, silver and bronze medals from the Wadena dance competition on March 12 and 13. Dancers performed jazz, ballet and tap routines.

Since 2003, research has been going on in Saskatchewan, at the extreme northern edge of the turkey vulture range. Tanya Lawson, assistant to the project in 2015 gave a detailed presentation of the finding of the research.

The curling season concluded in Sturgis with the Matt's and Home Hardware bonspiel from March 7 to 13. There were a total of 17 teams entered with the Brian Peterson rink taking first place.
