聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Seniors in the Sturgis area rocked the community with a fun rock-a-thon fundraiser hosted at the Sturgis READ Club on March 16. The eight main participants were all over the age of 90 years.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Participants included: Katherine Kuzik, Bertha Mills, Irene Orr, Morris Masley, Gladys McDougall, Florence Johnson, Pearl Karcha and Vi Palaniuk.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A soup-and-sandwich luncheon kicked off the afternoon followed by the rock-a-thon. The fundraiser had participants taking turns rocking in a rocking chair over the course of a few hours. Other individuals were encouraged to also participate and encouraged to support the rockers.
鈥淭his is our second rock-a-thon,鈥� said Betty Lou Skogen. 鈥淚t is our way of showing our appreciation to all the seniors in the club. It is also a fun way to raise funds for the club and it gets the community involved,鈥� she said.
