Whether the Saskatchewan legislature was ever a great place for debates is… well… debatable. We love to talk about the good ol’ days when those we elected were all brilliant orators and when every word uttered merited our undivided attention.

Supporters of the Preeceville Skating Arena harvested their first canola crop on September 30 as a fundraiser for the arena. The canola was divided into some test plots with the rest of the field seeded into canola.

The Preeceville School senior football team concluded its season after playing its final game in Watrous on October 14, but fell short with a loss of 51-31. Coaching staff included Jeremy Mattison, Bill Dodge, Doug King and Patrick Livingstone.

The Preeceville Minor Hockey League sponsored a power skate program geared towards strengthening and improving players’ skills. The program was taught by Derek Serdachny of Yorkton at the Preeceville Skating Arena from October 18 to October 27.

Kelsey Marchand of Regina explained her research on turtles in Saskatchewan in a special presentation in Preeceville.

Alton Gregory of Endeavour was presented with the Driver of the Year award for all his dedication in safety on October 16. The presentation was sponsored by Timberlands Division of Weyerhaeuser in Hudson Bay.

On Monday, October 24, Michael and Kathleen Pitt of Preeceville witnessed an impressive sight, a red-bellied woodpecker, which is considered to be a rare bird in Saskatchewan.
