The Preeceville hockey teams have been busy with three home games held at the Preeceville Skating Arena. The Preeceville atom hockey team faced off against Kamsack in a home game on January 10.

Sturgis mixed curling team brings home bronze medal

The Sturgis Composite High School mixed curling team brought home a bronze medal from the Yorkton Regional High School invitational bonspiel held January 14 and 15 among 13 teams.

Musings for the month of January

We survived Christmas in spite of all the visitors. In fact, we all enjoyed a good time. New Year’s Eve was very quiet and peaceful. The only fly in the ointment was the blizzard and extreme drop in temperature that befell us.

Ice fishing rules and regulations are mainly the same for the new season

Now that we have some colder weather, the idea of getting out on the ice to do some ice fishing seems a bit more popular. Every year officers get asked many questions related to ice fishing.

The Bob Lumley rink of Norquay won the Preeceville senior bonspiel held at the Preeceville Curling rink from January 10 to 13. Team members included Joy Hubic, Donna Lumley and Jane Perepeluk.

Past Sturgis mayor Don Olson was acknowledged for his dedicated years of service as a councillor from 1991 to1997 and mayor from 1997 to 2016. Mayor Alan Holmberg presented the award to Don Olson at the Town of Sturgis town office on December 12.
