Fall season is the time for many gardeners to be harvesting produce off their garden and a veggie exchange is a perfect outlet for gardeners to share any extra vegetables.

The largest pumpkin topped the scales at 100 pounds during the Preeceville largest vegetable contest at the Preeceville Legion Hall on September 23. Cayden and Jordyn Worobetz of Preeceville brought in the pumpkin to be weighed by Maureen Johnson.

Sturgis Nursery School kicked off its fun learning school year in a new location on September 20. The school's new location in the old Sturgis Elementary School allows students a larger space with more room to grow, said Erin Gregory, teacher.

The Mens’ Field Lacrosse National Championships took place in Saskatoon September 1-3, and included a number of local boys who played for Saskatchewan teams, said a parent.

The Sturgis senior boys volleyball team hosted a five-team tournament at the Sturgis Composite School on September 16.

The Preeceville Panthers senior football team recorded its first win of the season against Davidson on September 14. The final score was 36-22. The Panthers started out slow with a few fumbles, said Jeremy Mattison, defence coach.

The Preeceville Nursery School was in attendance at the Town of Preeceville community-wide registration evening on September 12.

The Sturgis Kinette Fall Market attracted 26 vendors and was said to have been a huge success. The market was held at the Sturgis Community Hall on September 16. The Kinettes featured a lunch counter and a raffle table.

Jasmine Knihniski of Preeceville traveled to India with a group of 21 Canadian volunteers to help build three classrooms for disadvantaged students in India. She started her journey on July 21 and returned home on August 8.
