The Ron Hoehn rink of Canora captured first place at the Canora Senior Bonspiel, held from January 14 to 17 at the Sylvia Fedoruk Centre.

Don鈥檛 let the name fool you. Combining the action of tennis, ping pong and badminton, this game is fast paced and unique. Chances are, you can probably play it.

So I had expected this week鈥檚 column would be all about the efforts by the Canadian Football League to open the doors to international talent.

The Yorkton Curling Club hosted an Open Doubles Bonspiel sponsored by Zad Enterprises Friday and Saturday with 14 teams registered. The overall winners were; Team Nagy, Team Zuravloff, Team Farquhason, Team Lutz, and Team Zbeetnoff.

Yorkton Minor Hockey hosted a Pee Wee Tournament on the weekend. Left, the Yorkton Mark鈥檚 Terriers faced off against the Prairie Storm Thunder Friday, with the final score 5-3 in favour of the Thunder.

Action is taking place at the annual Yorkton Seniors Bonspiel at the Gallagher Centre Curling Rink hosted by the Yorkton Curling Club. The event will wind up Thursday.

There were 15 rinks entered in the Preeceville seniors bonspiel held during the week of January 8 to 11. The Lou Roste and Ralph Ager teams tied for first place. Team members on the Roste rink were: Phil Murrin, Minnie Zimmer and Darwin Chalupiak.

For the Yorkton Terriers wins have been hard to come by of late, with only two wins in nine games going into action against Melfort.

After advancing through several qualifying bonspiels, Team Zuravloff, with two members (Zuravloff brothers) from Canora, advanced to the Junior Provincial Mens Curling Championship at the Sutherland Curling Rink in Saskatoon on Dec 27 to 31.

A Stick Curling bonspiel in Swan River was won by a team from Kamsack. The two-person team of Shirley Peesker and Marge Wonitowy of Kamsack won the event which was held on January 8 in the Swan Valley Curling Complex.
