Young Skaters Go 'Around the World'

Large crowd attends year-end carnival

Lots of proud parents and supporters were in the crowd at the Jim Kook Rec Plex in Outlook on Saturday, March 18 when the young students in the Outlook Skating Club presented their year-end carnival event, with this year’s theme dubbed ‘Around The World’.

Prior to the kids taking to the ice, a ham and baked potato supper was served in the lobby of the rink.  After the delicious meal, it was time for the youngsters to show off their skills and showmanship, which they did to great enthusiasm and applause from the sizable crowd in the stands.

With the international theme, a number of different countries and regions were represented by the kids, who were decked out in impressive costumes and thrilled spectators with their skating prowess.  Whether it was Africa, Egypt, Italy, England, Greece, Mexico or France being represented by the young athletes, or Canada itself, the audience always had something to cheer as the skaters left their mark on the ice.

The show also welcomed a guest skater from the Saskatoon Skating Club, as Alanna Liu left an impression on the crowd and the local skaters.

The carnival wrapped up with a number of award presentations, bringing an end to the show as well as the skating season for this year.
