On October 30, eight students, one from each grade at the Canora Composite School, were selected to receive Crossroads Credit Union Student-of-the-Month awards for October.

During the last few years it has been necessary several times to reach back into The Canora Courier files and retell the stories about several of the local veterans of the Great Wars.

Our community is mourning the passing of Nyle James following a brief battle with cancer. Nyle and Judy have lived in GSA for many years. Nyle was a carpenter who worked in many homes and businesses in GSA as well as surrounding communities.

For the past six years, students who are now in Grade 12, have been partnering with some of the youngest students at Canora Junior Elementary School to create wonderful jack-o鈥�-lanterns in time for Halloween.

鈥淲hat a season!鈥� Shyla Yannoulis, the assistant coach of the Canora Cougars junior girls volleyball team, used those three words to describe the Cougars鈥� season following the gold medal win at the Districts tournament on Saturday.

Sheila McDonald and Margaret Knight of Invermay were presented prestigious awards at the Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism sixth-annual Celebrating Seniors Volunteer Awards event at the Delta Hotel in Regina on October 4.

A total of 231 persons attended the first flu immunization clinic at the Keen Age Centre on October 22, said Kelly Strelioff, the public health nurse for the Canora area.

There were 102 guests registered at Canora Hospital Auxiliary鈥檚 fall fundraiser, which included indulging in a large selection of pies for the fall coffee (tea)-and-pie event.
