REGINA - With another major dumping of snow happening, the City of Regina has declared snow routes in effect.

The declaration takes effect at 6 a.m. Feb. 6 and there is is no on-street parking along the identified routes for a 24-hour period, until 6 a.m. on Feb. 7.

The city says this parking ban allows crews to plow the roads from curb to curb, improving traffic flow along the busy roadways and help ensure roads are passable for emergency response vehicles.

The snow routes are identified by blue signs with a white snowflake on them. Vehicles that remained parked on the snow route during the ban will be ticketed and could be towed.

There has been snow falling in Regina since yesterday. Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for Regina for Wednesday with snowfall amounts of between 10 and 20 cm expected. The snow is from a system tracking along the Montana-Wyoming border expected to bring heavy snowfall to southern Saskatchewan into Thursday, with the heaviest accumulations on Wednesday night.
