MOOSE JAW — The Moose Jaw Health Foundation (MJHF) is pleased to announce the upcoming third annual “Healthcare Rocks!” fundraiser in support of the men and women who work tirelessly to save lives at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.

The event is sponsored by Cypress Paving and is set to take place at the Mae Wilson Theatre, located at the Moose Jaw Centre for Arts & Culture (MJCAC) on Saturday, March 15.

Doors open for 7 p.m. and free hors d’oeuvres will be provided courtesy of the Grant Hall Hotel. Elton John-themed merchandise will be available in a silent auction and a specialty drink called “Rocket Man” will be offered at the bar. There’ll also be “a few surprises” in store for guests.

“Healthcare Rocks is proudly presented by Cypress Paving and hosted by the always entertaining Leroy and Leroy, and it’s set to light up Moose Jaw with an unforgettable night of music and community spirit — all in support of our hospital’s health care heroes and the Women’s Health Unit…,” announced Kelly McElree, director of the MJHF.

Highlighting the evening will be North America’s leading Elton John impersonator, Elton Rohn.

“From the first note of ‘Tiny Dancer’ all the way to the iconic chords of ‘Bennie And The Jets,’ Elton Rohn faithfully recreates the grand spectacle of an Elton John show. He’s bringing a six-piece band and it’s going to be quite the night…,” said McElree.

Described as a night of “pure energy and fun,” guests are invited to dress up in their favourite ‘80s-era rock star regalia for the occasion.

“We asked people to join us for a night where we’ll prove that Saturday nights are all right for fighting, but this time we’re going to be fighting for better health care.”

All proceeds will stay in the community to support Moose Jaw’s health care workers.

“Our health care workers are real rock stars in our community, and so we always call them the ‘health care heroes’ of our community,” McElree said.

Long before a headliner was selected, McElree took a double take after receiving an unexpected phone call from someone named Elton who was interested in being part of the show.

“He called me and it was funny because he said, ‘Hi, my name is Elton Rohn.’ It sounded exactly like getting a phone call from Elton John,” he recalled.

After speaking for a few months, McElree learned that Rohn’s mother was originally from Moose Jaw but he had never been to The Friendly City and freed some time in his busy schedule to visit.

“You know, people in Moose Jaw are connected in so many different ways,” McElree reflected.

Proceeds will be directed to the Women’s Health Unit to purchase new isolettes for newborns, new cardiac monitors, and similar life-saving equipment at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.

“In the Women’s Health Unit, over 500 babies are born each and every single year,” he noted, giving a nod to the perennial need for additional supports.

McElree wished to thank everyone who helped make the event possible, including .

“Healthcare Rocks was designed to be a world-class, affordable event in Moose Jaw,  where people could just come and enjoy themselves for an evening (without breaking) the bank,” McElree said, adding that the purchase of each ticket “helps out so, so many people.”

Tickets are $50 each plus applicable taxes and fees, and can be purchased online at or at the Moose Jaw Centre for Arts and Culture box office at 217 Main Street North. For more information call 306-693-4700.
