Producers have made significant harvest progress, due in large part to the warm and dry weather, Saskatchewan Agriculture reported for the week ending September 11.

Submitted by Jacylyn Gibson The Assiniboia and District Multiple 4-H Club held its Achievement Day on Sunday, August 13 at the Assiniboia Agriplex. The day started with a demonstration from the members of the Archery Project.

A total of 3,330 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan the week ending September 1. This number is down from 4,132 head sold the previous reporting week, and down from 3,793 head the same week a year ago, Saskatchewan Agriculture reported.

The relatively warm and dry weather has allowed many producers to continue with harvest operations, reported Saskatchewan Agriculture for the week ending September 4.

Producers are hard at work bringing in the 2017 harvest. The crop yields this year are extremely variable depending on the field and location.

Last year in late September news rocked the beef industry that a cow from a herd in Alberta tested positive for Bovine Tuberculosis.

Judging is a skill encouraged for all 4-H members regardless of their livestock background. Members from across Saskatchewan can choose a region to participate in Regional Judging no matter what 4-H project they participate in.
