WEYBURN - Canadian Wrestling's Elite's Cruel Summer Tour coming to Saskatchewan this July could be getting a lot more cruel for some with the breaking news that law enforcement is on the way!
When he wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment, Jacques Rougeau proudly declared that “The Mountie Always Gets His Man!” 'The Mountie' is coming to Weyburn on July 25 - his first western Canadian appearances in more than 25 years as part of the Canadian Wrestling’s Elite ‘Cruel Summer’ tour at the Knox Fellowship Hall.
Rougeau, a third generation wrestler from Montreal, wrestled some of his earliest matches for Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling and was a major star in Quebec before signing with the WWE in 1986. There, he was a two-time World tag team champion and unseated Bret Hart to win the Inter-Continental championship.
Lately Rougeau has been in the public eye, promoting “Wrestle Academy” a competition that looks to scout professional wrestling’s next big star. His appearance in Weyburn will be the first that he has made since his departure from the WWE in 1997.
The tour will also feature 30 year ring veteran “Mr. Beefy Goodness” Vance Nevada, originally of Souris, Manitoba. Currently on his final coast to coast campaign, Nevada has been in high demand between wrestling engagements and promotion of his Amazon best-selling book (Un)Controlled Chaos – an encyclopedia of Canadian professional wrestling history. In addition to action between the ropes, Nevada will be signing copies of the book for his fans in Weyburn.
The five-night tour of Saskatchewan also includes stops in Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Yorkton and Regina.
