This past weekend was the final regular season tournament of the year for the WCS Eagles senior girls basketball team. They went down to Estevan where they played Estevan Friday night for the big Pink game.
The entire tournament was dedicated to raising funds and awareness for cancer, with 100 per cent of the proceeds donated to an ECS student who is currently battling cancer.
“It was an honour to be invited to play in the Pink game, taking part in a ceremony before the game where each coach and player released a pink balloon into the ceiling, dedicating that game to someone they love who has either survived, is still battling, or has passed away from cancer. It was a thoughtful, emotional ceremony,” said coach Karly Johnson.
The game itself was exciting, with the lead going back and forth all game and Weyburn eventually winning by one point.
On Saturday, the girls lost to Moose Jaw Vanier, placing them in the bronze medal game, where they lost to Moose Jaw Peacock.
