WEYBURN – Both the Weyburn Comp Eagles junior boys and junior girls became district champions in their respective playoffs.
The WCS Eagles junior boys played in the district finals, hosted at St. Michael School on Wednesday.
They battled back to defeat Moosomin in overtime 60-56 in the semi-final. In the final, the boys defeated St. Michael Tigers 50-33 to become the district champions.
Earlier, the Tigers boys won their game over Oxbow by a score of 75-36, to send them to the final against the Eagles.
The WCS junior girls travelled to Oxbow, and they defeated Oxbow 54-28 in the semi-finals.
The Eagles girls then defeated Moosomin 25-15 in the finals to also clinch the district championship.
