Weyburn Comp Cross Country team runs at districts

Several runners from the Weyburn Comp will advance to provincials on Oct. 15.

The Weyburn Comp Eagles cross-country running team gathered after competing at districts at Oxbow on Wednesday. In the back row from left are coach Kristy Gall, Calder McMillan, Emerson Jack, Lane Wilson, Nash Hignett, Camden Husband, Mason Sidloski, Olivia Pederson and coach Branden Smith. WEYBURN – A cross-country team of runners from the Weyburn Comprehensive School took part in the cross-country districts in Oxbow on Wednesday, with the following results.

In Grade 7, 2 km: Rae-Lynn McKnight, 12:23, placing ninth in a field of 19 runners.

In Grade 8, 3km: Rylie Gervais had a time of 14:25 to win first in a field of 10 runners. Keaton Walter had a time of 18:28, placing 20th out of 23 runners.

Intermediate Girls, 3km: Jyllian Payak, 16:04, placing fifth; Olivia Pederson, 16:12 finishing seventh in a field of 13.

Intermediate Boys, 3km: Camben Husband, 11:34, placing second; Nash Hignett, 13:25 finishing fifth; Lucas Zieglgansberger, 16:20, placing 14th in a field of 18 runners.

Junior Girls, 4km: Willow Davis, 26:24, finishing fourth; Anna Tronson, 26:25 finishing fifth in a field of eight.

Junior Boys, 4km: Lane Wilson, 24:29, placing 15th out of 19 runners.

Senior Girl, 4km: Autumn Vilcu, 22:37 placing second out of a field of 12.

Senior Boys, 5km: Calder McMillan, 24:51, finishing third; Mason Sidloski, 26:09, placing fifth; Emerson Jack, 26:50, finishing seventh, out of 11.

The runners who are advancing to Provincials on Saturday, Oct. 15th at Wapiti Ski Hill, include Jyllian Payak, Olivia Pederson, Camden Husband, Nash Hignett, Willow Davis, Anna Tronson, Autumn Vilcu, Calder McMillan, Mason Sidloski and Emerson Jack.
