Â鶹´«Ã½AVern Rebels claim first win of PJHL season

The Rebels will host a home game at the Â鶹´«Ã½AVland Co-op Arena for a home game tonight, November 16.

The Rebels have played 11 games so far in the Prairie Junior Hockey League.

ASSINIBOIA - The Richardson Pioneer Â鶹´«Ã½AVern Rebels won their first game of the season, after defeating the Silver Foxes 6-3 during an away game on November 10.

In the first period, a goal was scored by the Silver Foxes early in the first period, with Matt Morhart scoring for Assiniboia at the 3:19 mark, off assists by Jordan Johnson and Evan Krasowski.

In the second period, Rylan Numrich scored an unassisted goal. Carter Lamotte scored during a power play, assisted by Matt Morhart and Cade Shields. The Silver Foxes quickly scored two goals of their own to tie the game.

The Rebels had a strong third period. Cade Shields scored at 17:03, assisted by Numrich and Landon McLellan. Chase Tenetuik scored at 14:11, assisted by Carter Lamotte and Morhart. Clay Lightfoot scored with 1:00 left in the period, assisted by Jayden Watterson and Morhart.

Jayden Watterson was in net for the Rebels. He stopped 33 attempts on net.

The Rebels were on home ice during a game on November 12, where they lost 8-4 to the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals.

Assiniboia opened scoring in the first period. Carter Lamotte scored at the 9:45 mark, assisted by Morhart and Tenetuik.

Logan Fontaine scored with 0:21 seconds left in the period, assisted by McLellan and Brandon Verhelst. The Capitals claimed a slight lead, after scoring three unanswered goals in the second period.

The heat was on in the first half of the third period. Brandon Verhelst scored for the Rebels, assisted by Fontaine and Jayden Lupuliak. The Capitals answered with their own goal. Tenetuik scored the fourth goal for the Rebels, assisted by Shields and Lightfoot.

The Capitals took control of the rest of the period, scoring four unanswered goals for the win.

Colby Watson was in net for the Rebels. He saved 36 shots against him, and allowed in eight goals.

The Rebels have played 11 games so far in the Prairie Junior Hockey League.

The team was back at the Â鶹´«Ã½AVland Co-op Arena for a home game on Wednesday night.

This weekend, the Rebels head to Saskatoon. They face the Saskatoon Westleys on Friday, November 25, and then the Saskatoon Quakers on Saturday, November 26.
