Â鶹´«Ã½AV East U18 AA Goldwings pick up three of four points

A busy weekend for female hockey teams in the southeast.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East U18 AA Goldwings had another good weekend.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East U18 AA Goldwings female hockey team enjoyed more success this past weekend, picking up three of a possible four points during a road trip.

The first game was a 1-0 victory over the Warman Wildcats. Hadley Gerle’s goal with 6:24 to play in the third period was the lone marker.

Ivey Grant was in goal for the shutout.

The following day, the Wings tied the Saskatoon Comet Legends 2-2. Gerle opened the scoring in the first period, and Paytin Copeland tied the game at twos with a goal in the third period.

Phoenix Preston-Winder was the goalie for the Wings.

The Wings (6-2-1) will play their final league games before the Christmas break when they host the Swift Current Wildcats. Games will be in Midale on Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and the following day at 1:30 p.m.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East TS&M U18 A Goldwings (1-8) dropped a 9-1 decision to the Balcarres Barracudas 9-1 Saturday in Midale in the Wings’ lone game of the week.

Kallie MacMillan had the Wings’ goal 5:29 into the third period.

Karley Martin was in goal.

The Carlyle U18 A Wildcats dropped both of their games. They lost 3-1 to the Prairie Storm in Balgonie on Saturday and 7-0 to Barracudas the following day in Carlyle.

Zacairah Shepherd had the Wildcats’ lone goal on the weekend. She opened the scoring midway through the first period against the Storm.

Riley Scott was the goalie for both games.

The Wildcats (1-6) will visit the Barracudas on Dec. 10.

The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Whitecap U15 AA Goldwings went up north and lost twice to the Saskatoon Comet Impact, 12-4 on Friday and 11-0 on Saturday.

Adison Warren, Tyra Kmita, Julia Durr and Ella Schenher had the goals in Friday’s game.

Kiera Barker was in goal for Friday’s game, and Josie Ellis was the netminder on Saturday.

The U15 AA Goldwings will host the Northwest Sharks on Dec. 10 at 12:45 p.m. in Weyburn.

The Estevan Â鶹´«Ã½AVland Pulse U15 A Bearcats played the Regina Rebels Gold to a 2-2 tie on Saturday in Bienfait.

The Rebels had a 2-0 lead after the second period, but Taya Northrop scored with 5:51 to play in the third period to pull the Bearcats to within one, and Finity Bourassa tied the game with 20 seconds to play.

Kayla Mitchell was the goalie.

The Bearcats (2-3-2) will host the Weyburn Construction Goldwings on Dec. 10 at Affinity Place, starting at 12:45 p.m.

The Estevan IG Wealth Management U13 AA Bearcats lost 3-1 to the Warman Wildcats on Sunday at Affinity Place.

Haven Bourassa’s goal eight minutes into the game opened the scoring and was the Bearcats’ lone goal.

Baya Summers was in goal.

The Bearcats (1-10) will be back on the ice on Dec. 10 and 11 when they visit the Lumsden-Bethune Lynx.

The Estevan Steel Reef U13 A Bearcats had three games in three nights, losing 5-0 to the Balcarres Barracudas at the Power Dodge Arena on Friday, 8-0 to the Barracudas the following day in Bienfait, and 7-0 to the Moose Jaw Mavericks 1 on Sunday in Moose Jaw.

Adalyn Christopherson was in goal for all three games.

Their final league game before the Christmas break will come on Dec. 16 when they host the Weyburn Goldwings at 5:45 p.m. at the Bienfait Memorial Arena.
