ASSINIBOIA - Another successful curling season has come to an end at the Assiniboia Curling Club. After hosting the Scotties last year, it was more on the quieter side, but none the less, a busy one.
First of all, we wish to thank our members for their participation. We look to find ways to increase this base next season. We thank our many local sponsors for their continued support through their advertising efforts and donations. These all add up to help make our club a viable operation.
We concluded the season with our two year end spiels. The Ladies Spiel attracted 12 teams this year. Great fun was had using the “Fiesta Fun” theme. The Men’s Annual hosted 22 teams over its three day event.
The Cliff Walter rink of Regina outlasted the field, and were this year’s champs. The Tim Cobbe rink, the Lucas Richards rink, and the Al Karst Rink were other event winners. Thanks for all the support.
The Monday Night Travelling League winner this season was the Travis Eldstrom crew, winning the title in a tight battle over Shaylor Layman of Lafleche. His championship rink included Mitch Pituley, Nick Pituley, and Chad Rogers.
The Thursday Night League Champ was the Jason Berner rink. Tom Mountain, Kyle Giraudier, and Walter Hutchinson were his supporting cast. The Cole Payant rink were the Blue Pool winners.
A big thanks to Travis and Nicole Eldstrom” for instructing our 20 Grades 2-4 students in March.
The Assiniboia Curling Club is now officially closed for the season, and we look forward to another one in in early November. We encourage new members to get involved, whether it be in the afternoon league, or one of the evening ones. To our current members, look for a friend to join us. We encourage our youth to come on out and try our sport.
Curling is a lifelong activity. Get your friends together and give us a whirl! Until next season, have a great summer.
