REGINA - The Saskatchewan Roughriders have dubbed their June 16 home opener as Dad’s Night Out in advance of Father’s Day.

The game will see the Roughriders host the West Division champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The club has announced it will be bringing in a special attraction for the occasion. Canadian rock musician Kim Mitchell of “Patio Lanterns” fame will be performing the half time show.

The place will be rocking starting with the Coors Light Party in the Park at 4 p.m. with Rock and Roll cover band Wonderland. Also planned are relay races, dad-themed trivia, alumni appearances and the inaugural Roughrider Cornhole tournament.

As a special gift for Father’s Day, the first 5,000 dads coming into the stadium will get a free Roughrider cap.

“After a long off-season, there’s no feeling quite like opening the doors to Mosaic Stadium for our first regular season game of the year,” said Saskatchewan Roughriders Chief Brand Officer Anthony Partipilo in a news release. “We can’t wait to use this day to celebrate the return of football and all the dads and father figures who influenced our love of the game.”

Tickets go on sale April 24 at 10 a.m. online at Riderville.com, or in-person at the Rider Ticket Office at Mosaic Stadium.
