The family of George Ciocia presented the Assiniboia Minor Ball Association with a cheque of $500 in George’s name on March 19.

George loved playing sports. He bowled and curled up until he was 92 years old, but his greatest love of sports was baseball.

He played for several teams including the Assiniboia Aces and Flintoft Tigers in his younger years and then played for Flintoft in the Twilite Championships as he got older.

George even had the opportunity to play in baseball camps in the United States in his teens and early twenties.

His love for the game never ended.

He enjoyed watching his great niece and nephews play for the Aces and was always quick to give pointers. He even played the occasional game of catch with them.

Assiniboia Minor Ball gave their sincere thanks to the George Ciocia family for the presentation of the donation.

Pictured are George’s great nephews, Grayson and Dawson, wearing the new uniforms purchased partly with the generous contribution. Also pictured are his great nieces, Keira and Jorja, with some Aces memorabilia belonging to George and AMBA Treasurer Carolyn Wilson, who accepted the cheque.
