Weyburn Legion seeks info on war medals

Information is being sought on who the Second World War ribbons belong to
war medals
Medals similar to these ones were found in a home in the Griffin area, and the Legion is seeking info about who the owner is

WEYBURN - The Weyburn branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is seeking information about a number of medals and ribbons from the Second World War.

The medals, buckles and ribbons were discovered after an old house was cleaned out on land that was bequested to the Weyburn Wildlife Federation. They took title to the land in 2020.

The property had belonged to the late Don Kowalski, located between Weyburn and Griffin, and when found, the medals, buckles and ribbons were turned over to the Weyburn Legion.

The medals include the 1939-45 campaign star, a volunteer medal and a victory medal.

The items have been turned over to a military museum for possible display, but no records have been found of Kowalski serving in the Second World War.

The Legion is hoping relatives or friends might know information about who the medals might have belonged to. If anyone has information, they can contact Brian Glass or Harold Whiteoak at the Weyburn Legion.
