Weyburn Chamber to host Parade of Lights through downtown

The annual Parade of Lights starts at 7 p.m. and will go east on Prairie Avenue, then south through downtown

WEYBURN – The annual Parade of Lights, showcasing brightly-lit and decorated Christmas-themed floats, will be hosted by the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Dec. 1, through the downtown area.

The parade floats will line up on the fair grounds at 6:30 p.m., and will head east on Prairie Avenue at 7 p.m.

The parade will turn south down Third Street by the Court House, and will proceed through the downtown area to Railway Avenue, go over to Second Street, and go north up Second to Bison Avenue to disperse at Government Road.

The Chamber of Commerce will supply the only Santa of the parade, and he will be the finale of the event.

Organizers ask those who are on floats not to throw candy, but to walk beside the float and hand the candies out along the route.

A fundraiser on the parade route will be a hot dogs stand by Royal LePage, at their blue house on the corner of Second Street and Prairie Avenue. Hot dogs and a drink will be sold for $2 each, and the proceeds will go to the Salvation Army’s back-to-school program.
