SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - The special weather statement for southeast Saskatchewan has been lifted.
Environment Canada issued the advisory at 8:40 a.m., stating strong wind gusts of 80 kilometres per hour were expected. It was lifted just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Strong northwesterly winds were expected to develop in the wake of a low-pressure system. Gusts up to 80 km/h or more were possible for southeastern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba beginning later Wednesday. The affected area will expand into the Red River Valley this afternoon.
The winds diminished Wednesday evening as the low departed into Ontario.
The advisory included Regina, Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Oxbow, Carnduff, Stoughton, Redvers, Kipling, Moosomin, Whitewood and other communities in the southeast.
