REGINA - The City of Regina says it is in full “Storm Mode” today to keep major roads drivable.
Regina received a major dumping of snow from Saturday and Sunday’s winter storm that hit the city. According to their news release, crews are responding by plowing snow and applying ice control at high-risk intersections.
The focus is on high-speed roads, those with the greatest volume of traffic and emergency routes. The city is also monitoring and clearing road sections prone to blowing snow, and has also declared a 24-hour snow route to ensure certain routes are passable for emergency vehicles.
Next up is for the city is to begin a systematic plow of Category 1, 2 and 3 roadways, according to their news release.
The city is asking residents to slow down when passing equipment and to stay back at least 3.5 car lengths from snow plowing and sanding equipment. Those planning to travel are urged to leave extra time for travel and are asked to plan your route in advance.
