Qu'Appelle gas and dash driver caught

Accused appears on more charges from other areas.

REGINA – The gas and dash bandit from Qu’Appelle reported last week has been caught.

But that’s not all Jordan Fayant, 29, of Indian Head is charged with.

Â鶹´«Ã½AVey RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover last Friday morning at around 7 a.m. with the driver taken to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

“Further investigation determined the vehicle involved in the rollover had been reported as stolen to Humboldt RCMP on June 9 and that the license plates did not match the vehicle,” said RCMP in a media release. “Officers searched the vehicle and located a number of stolen items, including vehicle keys, identification and financial cards.”

Fayant was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Police also discovered that Fayant was responsible for the gas and dash in Qu’Appelle on June 7, racking up another theft under $5,000 charge from Indian Head RCMP. A woman that was with Fayant in the Qu’Appelle matter has been identified by police, but no charges have been laid against her regarding the fuel theft incident.

Appearing in Regina Provincial Court via telephone on June 12, it was learned that the vehicle Fayant rolled was a black VW Tiguan, and he had 16 further charges from Moose Jaw dated March 5 including evade police, dangerous driving, proceeds of crime, possession of a prohibited weapon, and conditional breaches.

The Crown was opposed to Fayant’s released, and he will be held in custody until June 16 to seek representation from a Legal Aid lawyer on that date.
