The OneChurch congregation is just completing renovations to That Place on Railway (formerly Shockwave Youth Centre) located on Railway Avenue in Carlyle. Pastor Matt Redstone and Youth Pastor Mitch Stiller wish to provide Observer Readers with an update. The Carlyle Pentecostal Assembly started holding services in Carlyle in 1993 and was originally located on the top floor of the Affinity Credit Union building. It moved to Railway Avenue (the old Carlyle Building Supplies) and then in 2008 relocated to their present church building on Sixth Street West. Matt was the youth pastor from August 2009 to July of 2012. He then moved away to Lanigan and Medicine Hat. In January of 2020, Redstone, wife Michelle, and their family moved back to Carlyle replacing Pastor Louis Halbgewachs, who had moved to Saskatoon. The Redstones have three children, Taya, Aria, and Levi.
The Youth Centre on Railway Avenue has undergone a major renovation and now that COVID is coming to an end, the Church plans on reopening their Youth Centre. They will begin with a drop-in program every Friday night from 7 to 11 p.m. Youth Pastor Stiller, who arrived in Carlyle from Simcoe, Ontario a few weeks ago, plans on organizing a number of activities for the young people of the community. The centre is open to all and will target 12 to 18 year olds, providing them with a safe spot and something to do.
OneChurch has a young congregation approaching 200. Services are held every Sunday both in Carlyle & Redvers. They can be followed on both Facebook, Instagram & YouTube. Every two years, they make a bus journey to Mexico, where they serve alongside missionaries based out of San Carlos, providing them with clothing and helping with various projects. The Carlyle Campus also runs Playland in the winter for moms with young children. They set up 3 bouncy castles and run Monday and Tuesday from 10-12, starting November 1st.
Matt and Mitch are happy to call Carlyle their home and welcome all newcomers to the Carlyle Campus, the Redvers Campus, and That Place on Railway. Feel free to stop in, anytime!
