WEYBURN – The CPKC Holiday Train arrived on time in Weyburn on Sunday evening, with an estimated crowd of over 300 taking in the bright, colourful lights and the live music from the stage car.

This was the 25th year for the Holiday Train, with Weyburn receiving the U.S. train, which travelled west through the northern U.S. before coming up through North Portal and Estevan along the Soo Line.

Singers Dallas Smith and MacKenzie Porter provided the music, and a cheque for $5,500 was presented to Nicole Strickland of the Weyburn Salvation Army for the food bank midway through the show on behalf of the CPKC employees.

The Salvation Army’s pickup truck was on hand to accept food donations as well, and the truck was mostly filled by the end of the train’s stop in Weyburn, with a total of 752 pounds of food collected.

There were cash donations of $556.70 given by the attendees of the train stop over and above the cheque from the railway.

Souris-Moose Mountain MP Robert Kitchen and Mayor Marcel Roy were also on hand to greet the crowd from the stage.
