ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service responded to a number of calls on New Year’s Eve.
Police performed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Westview area. The driver was found to be suspended and was issued a ticket accordingly.
Members received a call through the Report Impaired Drivers line. Members attended and checked the vehicle and found the driver to be sober.
Officers were called to a report of individuals in a local liquor establishment who were believed to be under age and in possession of fake identification. Police attended and confirmed the identification was legitimate and that the individuals were of legal age.
Police were called to an apartment building to a report of an individual passed out in the hallway. Officers attended and determined the male did in fact live in the building but was on the wrong floor. He was assisted to get home to his own apartment.
In other recent police news, members were called to attend a multi-dwelling unit on Dec. 28, as one of the tenants was playing music very loudly in the early hours of the day. The tenants had a dispute and so the subject of the complaint turned up the music to annoy the neighbour. A warning was given under the bylaw.
Police were called to a downtown address a couple times regarding a dispute. A roommate was moving out and the parties weren’t getting along. Police attended to mediate.
Members conducted numerous traffic stops throughout that night. A 32-year-old man from Estevan received a 72-hour driver’s licence suspension after he provided a sample of breath which resulted in the suspension. The vehicle was towed and impounded for three days.
Police were dispatched to a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Souris Avenue. The RCMP was advised as the caller stated the motorist had left city limits.
The EPS received a call for a suspicious person in a vehicle. Patrols of the area were conducted but the vehicle had left the area prior to police arriving.
Members received a report of a possible theft from a community mailbox on Dec. 29. Officers attended, and through investigation, believe there wasn’t a theft but that the mailbox was damaged as it was malfunctioning.
Police received a call through the RID line about a vehicle approaching Estevan on Highway 18. Police attended and were not able to locate the suspect vehicle that had been reported.
Officers received a request to do a well-being check on an individual. Members attended and assisted with connecting the individual to services.
