ESTEVAN - A Saskatchewan man is $50,000 richer thanks to the Estevan branch of the Royal Canadian Legion's 2023 truck raffle.
Steven Cox of Qu'Appelle was presented with a cheque for that amount by the legion. Cox was the grand prize winner of the legion's annual truck raffle. His name was drawn during the legion's annual New Year's Eve party on Sunday night.
Cox had the option of winning a new 2023 Ford F-150 XLT pick-up truck from Senchuk Ford, worth more than $70,000, or $50,000 cash, and he opted for the money.
The raffle is a valuable fundraiser for the legion each year. The legion plans to hold another truck raffle in 2024.
