This morning I had the privilege of speaking to a radio audience on behalf of our local United Way.

A boy sat on a park bench loudly exclaiming, "Hallelujah! Hallelujah! God is great!" A university graduate asked the boy about his joy. "I just read that God led the whole nation of Israel right through the middle of the Red Sea.

It's been a week of fragrances and odors - some inspiring, some less than uplifting.

While waiting for a colleague this morning, I browsed through the gift and coffee shop where we were to meet. A small, somewhat pricey for its size, publication called my name. "Remember when" it began and I was hooked.

Soul whisperer or creative rant, you as reader may have to decide; but I will unfold the event and share its impact on me. Sometimes the Lord uses the instruments at hand to draw straight with crooked lines.

Last week I submitted the argument that Spring really wasn't far away. This I did in spite of knowing that blowing snow, cold and generally "sick of winter" blues affected most of my reading audience.

There was this important job to be done and everybody was asked to doit. Everybody was sure that somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that because it was everybody's job.

As I write, the official "first day of spring" is well nigh over and we're all hoping the end of winter is just around the proverbial corner.
