WEYBURN - The Weyburn Independent Motorcycle Riders will be hosting the 35th annual Salvation Army Parade on Saturday, Sept. 9. For the last 24 years, the goal was to donate toys for Christmas, and this year the Salvation Army has requested food donations as they have an overabundance of toys and their food shelves are rather empty.

Interested motorcycle riders can meet at the Legacy Elementary School bus parking area on the north side of the new school (the old Junior High). The parade will leave at 1 p.m.

Prior to the Salvation Army Parade, the Independent Motorcycle Riders will collect food donations for the Salvation Army at the Weyburn Walmart on Thursday and Friday, September 7 and 8.

Donations of non-perishable food items are greatly appreciated. All food donations will help stock the shelves at the Weyburn Salvation Army Food Bank.

Local motorcycle riders are also invited to participate in the 25th annual Ronald McDonald House Charity motorcycle ride on Sunday, September 10.

Registration for this event starts at the Estevan McDonald’s restaurant parking lot from 1 to 2 p.m. The charity motorcycle ride will leave Estevan for Stoughton using the highway between Lampman and Arcola at 2 p.m. They will stop for a photo and a prize raffle draw at the CrossRoads Inn at  3p.m.

There will be beef on a bun lunch available for a nominal fee. Registration is $20 per person, all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House located in Saskatoon.

This event is sponsored by the Prairie Winds of Estevan and the Estevan McDonalds Restaurants.
