On Aug. 19, the Prairie Pride Credit Union (CU) held a free swim and fun day the Alida Pool. They handed out many giveaways and treats to those who attended. The bouncy castle was available and greatly enjoyed by the younger kids. A hotdog barbecue was later held in the day. It was a good turnout and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Appreciation goes out to the CU staff and the Alida Recreation Board for hosting this event.
Also on that day, the Alida Archives & Library held a sidewalk book sale on Centre Street in case someone was interested.
On Aug. 20, Tim, Shelly and Ainsley Cowan travelled to Regina, where they spent the night and attended the Queen City Ex on Aug. 21. They also attended the football game before returning to Alida.
Finally we received a very much needed rain; even if it arrived too late to help the crops, but it will help in restoring some moisture level in the ground. Not really the best time to receive rain when one is in the mist of harvesting. I guess one can’t be choosy, got to take it when it comes.
The last day to enjoy a day of swimming at the Alida Swimming Pool is Aug. 29. Another season of swimming is over. Where does the time go? It just seems like the pool opened yesterday and now it’s closing. Hope everyone enjoyed the summer at the pool. A great big bouquet goes out to all of the lifeguards, instructors and other volunteers who spent time at the pool – you made the summer worthwhile for the swimmers.
