Talented junior curlers compete in Estevan

Estevan defeated Oxbow 8-6 in the doubles final.

ESTEVAN - The Power Dodge Curling Centre in Estevan was the site of lots of activity Feb. 7 for a couple of district events through the Â鶹´«Ã½AV East District Athletics Association.

The Estevan Comprehensive School's tandem of Arizona Spencer and Easton Baranowski, coached by Pauline Ziehl Grimsrud, won the junior doubles competition with an 8-6 victory over the Oxbow Prairie Horizons School. ECS went 4-0 during the tournament.

A total of six teams were entered. St. Mary's School, Hillcrest School and Sacred Heart School/Ecole Sacre Coeur were among the other teams competing.

Also, a district tournament was held for conventional four-person junior boys' teams. Weyburn Comprehensive School 1 defeated Wawota 9-3 in the final. Six teams were also entered. Weyburn went 3-1 on the day, while Wawota was undefeated until the final.
