ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service dealt with an intoxicated man on the weekend.
A Manitoba man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place after he was located at around 4 a.m. on Nov. 23 in the 800-block of Fourth Street. He was walking in the wrong direction to get to his destination and unable to care for himself due to his level of intoxication, the EPS said. No further information about the case was provided at this time.
The same day, a report of a stolen vehicle was determined to be false. The vehicle was located at a local hotel and an investigation determined that nothing criminal had occurred.
The EPS also received a complaint of an individual attempting to extort money from another person. The matter remains under investigation.
In other recent police news, an Estevan woman attended the police station on Nov. 20 and turned herself in on outstanding warrants from the Moose Jaw Police Service. She was arrested and released with a new court date.
The EPS received a report of a commercial business alarm on the east side of the city. Members responded and the building was found to be secure.
A motor vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Perkins Street and Fourth Avenue. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were able to drive from the scene. The drivers exchanged information and were advised to report the collision to SGI. No further police involvement was necessary.
A report of a possible break and enter at a property in the central area of the city was received. Members attended and determined that two individuals had been looking for lost property. They were cautioned not to attend the location again and were sent on their way.
On Nov. 21, EPS members responded to a collision in southeast Estevan. A vehicle lost control while attempting to turn at an intersection, resulting in it skidding into a power pole. Damage was sustained to both the vehicle and the pole. No injuries occurred in the collision.
A report was received of two vehicles racing in reverse in a northeast Estevan parking lot. Both vehicles were gone on police arrival.
Police arrested and charged a Regina man on Nov. 22 for breaching conditions of a previous release. He was subsequently released and will appear in court at a later date to speak to the additional charges.
The EPS also received a report of fraud and theft under $5,000. A short time later the complainant called back stating the matter was resolved.
A complaint of a hit-and-run collision was received. Police have identified both parties and the matter remains under investigation.
Police conducted a traffic stop during the night shift in which the driver was issued a three-day licence suspension and had his vehicle towed after samples of his breath were found to exceed the provincial limit of .04 for blood alcohol content.
