Man facing cocaine charges in Estevan released with conditions

ESTEVAN - The man charged in an Estevan drug bust earlier in January had a couple of appearances in court this week.

Rylan Robert Strudwick made an appearance on Monday in Estevan Provincial Court to discuss his legal counsel moving forward. Strudwick indicated he wants Legal Aid to represent him.

He was remanded into custody for an appearance two days later in Carlyle. He was released with conditions after the Carlyle appearance, and he will be back in court Feb. 3 in Estevan to speak to the charges.

Background:  According to a news release from the Estevan Police Service, a drug trafficking investigation resulted in a search warrant being authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and executed at a residence in Estevan on Jan. 14.

The EPS said investigators seized a quantity of illicit drugs with an estimated street value of $8,000.

Strudwick was arrested and has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime exceeding $5,000. 

The charges have not been proven in court.
